This is the first public version (0.6) of Regensburg3D.
It is work in progress.
The TODO list is too long to itemize it here.

What is Regensburg3D?
It is an interactive 3D model of Regensburg (Germany). Usage is free! Have fun with it!
Who is behind Regensburg3D?
Only myself. It is my spare time project. I got some support from
my employer PIXEL.
What if I like or dislike it?
Please send me an email. Any feedback is welcome!
Is Regensburg3D a geographic information system (GIS)?
Not really. It is intended to be used for entertainment and tourism purposes like route plannig.
(The Old Town of Regensburg is a UNESCO World Heritage.) But all data is gauged to WGS84. In fact
you can couple Regensburg3D with a GPS receiver and use it as a 3D navigation system.
What technologies are used?
Regensburg3D is 100% Java, Java 1.6 or higher is required.
The rendering is done with JOGL and my own scene graph API. Information about points of interest
(POI) is encoded with RDF.
What standard data formats are used?
The models, footprints and aerial images are not free (I have to pay for it!), therefore
you neither can download them nor are they encoded in a standard format. But the POI information
is available here.
One aim of Regensburg3D is to combine 3D visualization with Semantic Web technologies.
Is it open source?
Parts of it are open source. The RDF implementation is released under APACHE 2.0 license, see
Mobile RDF.
